Calathea plants are tropical, evergreen, clump-forming perennials belonging to the Marantaceae family. They are characterised by their attractively patterned, elliptic leaves, which may exhibit various colours and markings. Ideal conditions include peat-free compost with added perlite, bright, indirect light, and high humidity, maintained by placing containers on trays of moist gravel.
