Dierama pulcherrimum Blackbird

Dierama pulcherrimum  Blackbird is an evergreen perennial, reaching a height of 1-1.5 metres. It features tall, strap-shaped leaves and large, deep red-purple, bell-shaped flowers borne on slender, arching stems during the summer. This plant thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil, in full sun, and is generally disease- and pest-free. Maintenance includes tidying winter-damaged foliage in spring, and care should be taken during division to avoid disturbing the corms too early. Ideal for a sheltered garden environment, it may take 1-2 years to flower freely after division.
