Knautia macedonica Red Knight

Knautia macedonica  Red Knight is a clump-forming perennial, reaching heights of up to 90cm. It features slender, branching stems and produces cherry-red, pincushion-like flowers (up to 3cm) from mid to late summer, which are attractive to pollinating insects. This plant thrives in moderately fertile, well-drained, preferably alkaline soil and requires full sun exposure. It may be susceptible to powdery mildews and aphids. Pruning involves cutting back spent flower stems in early winter. For propagation, seed sowing in pots or basal softwood cuttings can be performed in spring.
